AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERY IN 2023
In 2023, agricultural, forestry and fishery production in the province
witnessed a stable growth comparing with the same period last year. Besides
the advantages, the production also faced challenges such as climate change,
uncertainty weather, and high prices of input materials, epidemics on livestock
and poultry and potential risks. The agriculture sector promoted agricultural
extension, transferred scientific and technical advancement to farmers e.g.
focused on changing crops structure, seasonal crops; developing and expand
effective, advanced production models, Science and technology solutions were
continuously applied to increase the efficiency of fertilizer use, to develop
large-field programs, joint projects of paddy breeds production as well as
improve the efficiency of planting and harvesting annual crops.
1. Agriculture
This year, the Winter-Spring crop production encountered difficulties due
to prolonged heavy rains at the beginning of the season, causing damage to
newly planted rice and upland crops, but localities proactively overcame
difficulties; Prices of agricultural materials were high. Production of the
Summer-Autumn crop and Summer crop was taken place in conditions of
relatively abundant water in reservoirs in the province, enough to supply water
for crops throughout the season, so crops grew and developed well. The
agriculture sector promoted the transformation of crop structure and season to
suit local conditions, advantages and market needs; Adapting to climate change
associated with implementing a project to convert crops on land that produced
3 rice crops per year to other more effective crops.
In 2023, the cereal production reached 694,016 tons, an increase of 1.6%
(+10,683 tons) compared to that in 2022; of which paddy production reached
638,951 tons, a growth of 1.1% (+6,985 tons), (Winter-spring paddy production
reached 336,962 tons, an increase of 1.5% (+5,024 tons); summer-autumn paddy
production reached 281,826 tons, a growth of 0.5% (+1,336 tons); Summer
paddy production reached 20,163 tons, an increase of 3.2% (+625 tons)).
In 2023, the production of some industrial and fruit trees was as follows:
cashew 1,503 tons, a year-on-year decline of 30.2% (-650 tons); coconut
123,067 tons, an increase of 13.4% (+14,569 tons); banana 20,819 tons, a
decline of 5.8% (-1,273 tons); mango 5,225 tons, a decline of 4.5% (-246 tons).
